Blossoming (The Orchid Prayer)

This is an early piece I created while experimenting with fusing Chinese imagery and Christian themes.
In this painting, the fish on the orchid pot is one of many Chinese symbols representing blessing. The fish also is a Christian symbol of Christ. The orchids growing from the pot represent the hope that by being rooted in Christ we may find some joy and blessing in our lives. The woman in this painting is wearing a red dress, red being the color which most often represents joy in Chinese culture.
